KUSI: Fresh Start Surgical Gifts Receives Matching Grant

As some of you may know, we work with Fresh Start Surgical Gifts, a local nonprofit organization that provides services to children and young adults from one-year-old to age 17 who are suffering from physical deformities caused by birth defects, accidents, abuse or disease. From now until December 31, any donation you make towards Fresh Start Surgical Gifts will be DOUBLED through a matching grant from the Vivien A. Nelson Foundation. Fresh Start services are provided free to children and young adults of financially disadvantaged families.

During the November 3, 2013 Surgery Weekend, a patient named Daiana, who has a deformity of the face and neck, received a tracheostomy where an opening was created through her neck to aid her breathing. Her one week overnight stay at the hospital has become four, and now possibly six weeks long. Donations to Fresh Start help children like Daiana directly.

Watch the KUSI segment for all the details.
